Optygen HP review in Mountain Flyer magazine
First Endurance Optygen HP $128 (120 capsules)
Derived from the plant Rhodiola and the fungus Cordyceps CS-4—two adaptogens that have reportedly helped Sherpas climb Mount Everest—Optygen HP is said to increase oxygen utilization, increase the body’s ability to adapt to physical stress and increase aerobic threshold while reducing lactic acid buildup. Optygen HP also contains beta- alanine, another adaptogen shown to increase strength and exercise capacity. These are big claims for a little red pill, but there is a good amount of independent clinical research behind the formula, and First Endurance’s athletes are killin’ it all over the world stage.

Though it is hard to quantify whether Optygen HP was responsible for my improvements, I can say that I felt fantastic during rides and recovered well from hard training days during the two-month period I was using Optygen HP. My race results were pleasantly consistent during the period, enough so that I ordered another bottle before running out.
First Endurance recommends taking four capsules daily during hard training blocks. At $128 for a one-month supply, it’s definitely for those wanting to pull out all the stops when it comes to fitness. Of course, if you already have a coach on retainer, Optygen HP is certainly worth a go. –J. Carr
